Resident House Rules
& Agreement
Aligned with MHSDA & NARR recovery-residence standards
Welcome
Welcome to Major House. This is your home and a shared community of residents supporting one another in recovery and in rebuilding their lives. These rules exist to keep every resident safe, healthy, and moving forward. By signing this agreement, you agree to follow them for as long as you live here.
Your residency
Your right to live at Major House is a revocable license to occupy your assigned bed for the purpose of participating in our recovery program. It is not a lease, rental agreement, or tenancy, and it gives you no tenancy, leasehold, or other property interest in the home.
The house rules
- A drug- and alcohol-free home. No drugs, alcohol, or related paraphernalia are allowed on the property or in your system. You agree to maintain your sobriety and to submit to random or for-cause drug and alcohol testing. Prescribed medications, including medication-assisted treatment (MAT), are permitted; they must be disclosed and managed according to house policy.
- Your case manager. You must have a case manager and keep their current contact information on file with Major House at all times.
- No unapproved guests. Guests must be approved in advance. Approved visiting hours are 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. No overnight guests. You are responsible for the conduct of anyone you invite.
- No weapons. Weapons of any kind are not permitted anywhere on the property.
- Shared chores. Every resident shares responsibility for keeping the home clean and welcoming, and completes their assigned chores.
- Respect and safety. Treat fellow residents, staff, and neighbors with respect. No violence, threats, harassment, or intimidation of any kind. Respect others’ privacy, and keep what you learn about fellow residents confidential.
- Common areas and quiet hours. Keep shared spaces clean and ready for others to use. Quiet hours are 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
- Children. If your children live with you, you are responsible for their supervision, behavior, and care at all times.
- Smoking. Smoking is permitted outside the home only. All cigarette butts must be disposed of properly.
- Personal belongings. You are responsible for your own belongings. Major House is not responsible for lost or damaged personal property.
- Participation. You must attend all scheduled house meetings and take part in required community activities.
